Radix or Whipple?
#1
Hello, Im doing some research on which supercharger Im going to go with. My goal is to be around 550-600 RWHP. So far I have full exhaust, Will be swaping heads to Patriot Performance CNC stade III Ported heads, The TR blower cam. 214/230 .601/.579 117LSA. Just wondering which supercharger would work better for me. Thanks

If you look around you'll see there are a lot of FI trucks on this forum....and most of the SC setups are Magnuson powered, for good reason.
We do have users sucessfully running Whipple, KB, Procharger, etc but some might say your responses are going to be a little biased
I make 575hp boost only with a 5.3. 600 from a 6L and the right supporting mods, possible I'd say.

I'd go with a whipple. Once you get everything sorted you will have a better blower setup than with a maggie.
I am making 395whp and 424trq on mustang dyno with a 5200 redline at 10psi. That equals about 445-450whp and 500trq on a dynojet. I am redlining at 5200 because I am maxing my fuel system out. I'm getting a new fuel pump and bigger injectors and I would expect another 5-10hp and trq with just giving it more fuel. I am running marine 44lb injectors, custom tune, and a kenne belle boostapump right now.I got rid of all the whipple electronics and their two auxiliary injectors. The only other supporting power mods I have are jba shorty headers and a corsa exhaust.
I have plans of building my engine to a 408 this summer and 550whp on the mustang dyno should be no problem. I don't think I will even need to raise the boost to much more than 15psi.
The maggie is less efficent at higher boost levels so I don't think that it would be an optimal choice.

There are also a lot more people on PT with them than with Whipples, so when you have questions/run into problems, there are going to be alot more people with experience who can help you out

I am pretty sure the maggie will max out before the whipple correct and the whipple is more efficient at higher boost levels.
I have never had one issue related to my whipple. I don't have slip problems or anything. There are plenty of knowledgeable whipple guys on here also. I do see a lot of guys running into trouble with the maggies though.
