Default Passing inspection in NC with turbo kit.

I’m coming up on my first state inspection in NC with my truck and I’m not sure what to expect. I don’t believe they do a sniffer test here. I think it’s just a visual inspection and a OBDII reading. The only issue is that I don’t have a catalytic converter. Would it be as simple as installing a dummy cat and sending it on it’s way? What have you done. Thanks.

As long as the truck doesn’t throw a check engine light your fine. My Y pipe with my headers on my old truck didn’t have any cats. I never had a problem because they don’t even put it on a lift to look.

The only problem I ever ran into is one time a tech wanted to be a punk and failed me because I had my rear resonator cut off and left dumped over the rear axle. He said I needed a pipe that exited the under side of the vehicle. Every other nobody ever said anything

You might be alright, I passed several years without anybody saying anything but there's always that one guy.

I still had the piece I cut off so I just used a band clamp and clamped it on then went right back and got it passed.

I guessing you probably can't do that.

Yeah, I ended up just buying a 4” cat. I’ll just gut it, weld it up in there and be done with it. Iv been wanting to install a “resonator” anyways lol

What county are you in? Some no longer require emissions testing.

If you're in Mooresville/Iredell/Rowan Co then there is no sniffer. Just OBDII plug in & visual inspection.
