EEKKK...driving in the rain? Is there a leak in it? Can't imagine how it would collect water unless your getting alot of water from condensation!!
I drilled a hole in the lowest hold of my hot pipes and found alot of water drain out of there. I know a few people do the same with their intercoolers with front mounts but not the extent you seem to be talking about.

So your telling me they built a Single turbo kit with bolth stock manifolds??... and went with a t4 frame turbo ... Not very wise on such a big engine... Do you have a HUGE intercooler or something.. like 3.5 in and outs? and a ton of intake pipe?? Maybe alot of Cam overlap, stock manifolds and T4 flange are killing the motor before it ever gets going... I would like to know what are the back pressure readings @ lower rpms also... 2psi would be pretty crazy @ idle... Someone else had about the same troubles had to swap downpipe and turbos to Kill off the pressure

heres some pics

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...375&highlight=

the intercooler is pretty big, not sure the dimensions.

the thing i don't understand is, how did dez get it to hold 18lbs boost on the street and make 640/640 on 9lbs on the dyno but now it won't hold anything over 6lbs boost?

something seems messed up yes? I found a compressor map of the gt80 on the australian version of the innovative website but not sure it's accurate for my particular model. if so, precision says it's way too small for that setup and recommends a gt4276 1.28 a/r

The turbo size is fine. There is another problem. The intercooler isn't the greatest but it works. The problem with it is the intercooler is the lowest point and the inlet/outlet are on the top. This makes the intercooler a catch can. When we had it the intercooler had 1-2" of oil in it from a leaking turbo.

You pretty much said it all in your post about Don making 640/640 on 9psi Thats Killer numbers... Maybe there reading Boost on the back of the intake Vs in the charge pipes to before the Intercooler ?? I was reading your Link you sent me for an an Hour and a half !!.... There is almost 6 months between Don @ Dez and W2W getting your truck so its very Unclear about what took place in the Middle... But without a Doubt If I had a Choice on shipping my truck to Have work Done ( I am in Texas ) It would Be in Dons Driveway ... I am alot like you Dan.. Very Hard to impress and whats Good today isnt Allways **** the Next but I Build and work on My own stuff so I am the only person to blame...

lots of questions as far as wtf happened. none of it makes any sense. everyone involved is/was puzzled. how can it drive perfect for an hour then be completely f'd up? i cerainly don't know, don certainly can't answer that. though the poor bastard tried like hell and hats off for doing so.

I wonder wonder wonder if the intercooler IS indeed the issue? lets say it's full of oil etc right now. That would cause a restriction yes? restriction would cause high backpressure yes? anyone else think that intercooler needs to go bye bye? redoing those pipes should be a snap.

Why don't you drill holes in the bottoms of the intercooler tanks first, like someone stated in a previous post?

What it means is... 30psi in the exhaust... Maybe the turbo is working its *** off.. But Your CFM isnt making it to the engine.. what if the other 7 psi+ is before the intercooler... So 30 psi in exhaust 2:1 ratio 14psi turbo output but only 6psi making it to back to the intake manifold... 2:1 ratio is like @ best... what I dont think its going to spool all that Great ... My next thing is .. whats the pressure drop across the intercooler... As far as the intercooler holding Oil/Water... Maybe its time you weld on some Petcocks to drain that thing once in a while...
