Not sure when I'm heading back out...want to get the 4.11 gears in there and see what improvement comes from that.

Two questions:

1) What is everyone's thoughts on the G80 in the 9.5" 14-bolt...is it sturdy enough to just swap in the gears, or will I end up going back in and installing the Truetrac in a short time?

2) I had the previous 10-bolt Auburn Pro/3.90 gears done in Rancho Cordova (East Sacto), and they did a fine install for a reasonable price. But anyone have a recommendation for someone closer to Vacaville-Stockton-Tracy-Concord-Livermore?
I broke the G80 in my Dmax pretty easy, i wouldnt chance it but it might last, how much torque again??

Currently at 585rwtq and working on much more (nitrous in the future, more than likely). Reality sucks...fact is, I shouldn't even consider keeping the G80 in there. I'll be far ahead if I install the Truetrac with the gears than pay labor twice to install it later.

Anyone have thoughts on a reliable installer, that is closer to me?

I beat the hell out of my G80 and it's still alive somehow. Works well unless I break loose above 20mph. Then it stays unlocked because it wouldn't dare try locking up any faster than that.
I had a TT in my last truck and man is it amazing how well they work. Truetrac FTW.

I am with everyone on this one. I wouldnt chance it. If you want a real posi, then you buy an eaton with the additional 800lb spring kit installed in it. This will blow the truetrac away. I mean, I still have my G80 in mine, but thats the reason you dont see me track the truck anymore, I dont feel like breaking it.

From my previous research, the Truetrac appears to have the biggest "following". Rick @ Synergy recommended going with the Eaton LSD posi with heavier springs...

And speak of the here he is now. Hey buddy! As you likely read, the trans worked great...good work with the solenoids. And, I know that is no guarantee that it won't snap...just happy that it is shifting like it should.

I did some quick price checking on the Eaton Posi LSD and the Truetrac...the LSD is about $25 less before the spring kit, so probably a wash on price. What advantage(s) does the Posi LSD have over the Truetrac LSD? Seems like the Posi LSD having carbon friction clutches would be less durable than the helical gear (no clutches) type?

It has not taken much to convince me to upgrade. I always start off by "trying to get by"...seems I'd learn from trying to get by with building up the 10-bolt (look where that got me). Is the shifting a programming problem> And, aside from the shifting issue, now that you've driven it how do you like the 4L80E? Is first gear as "tall" as everyone makes it sound?

its a programming issue, nothing with the trans. I Love it! First is tall but with all the torque at my disposal, it makes for a great ride! leaving soft is like driving a cadi, and hitting it from a dig roasts the tires!!!!! rips second just like the old days!.
