The big concern now is the tranny...Rick was not thrilled with making more power on what he believes is likely a hurt transmission.
Any news?

Depends on the results of the cam swap. If it make s more power and has decent driveability, I won't have a need for the GT2-3. But I won't let it go until I have some wheel time and track runs to ensure that I want to stay with the new cam.

Well, kinda...

Rick has reportedly contacted the "pulley supplier" on 5 separate occasions and has not received a positive response. The consensus is that we will put it together without the 8-rib SC pulley & idler, and will run a 6-rib belt until he can get this supplier to respond or find another source for the pulley/idler.

So, looks like I will run the new 8" crank pulley with a 2.85" SC pulley for now. Looking forward to seeing what that, combined with the new cam & Dynatech LTs does for it.

Btw, does anyone have a 3.0" 8-rib pulley for a front driven/rear inlet 122HH? lol

Default The Latest...

Picked up the Yukon from Rick this past week. Results of swapping the following:

1) JBA Ti-coated shorties with Magnaflow hi-flow catted y-pipe to Dynatech LTs & their hi-flow catted y-pipe,

2) LPE GT2-3 cam (207/220 573/581 118.5*) to Speed Inc. SC-1 cam (224/228 566/571 114*),

3) Oem crank pulley with 2.85 SC drive pulley to 8" crank pulley with 3.2 SC drive pulley

4) Magnason truck H/E to Magnuson CTS-V H/E.

Lost 7 rwhp, 6 rwtq, 2 lbs boost! But I did retain my 195* IATs at the end of a pull, so I didn't lose everything.

We had originally discussed and decided on a 3.0" SC drive pulley, but in the month plus it took to track down an 8-rib pulley for the 122, Rick forgot our discussion and order a 3.2". I think with the 3.0 it might have retained the boost and shown an overall improvement.

I will post the dyno & boost graphs when I get home. Transmission is still showing signs that it does not like the power/weight ratio! So, don't know if I will throw caution to the wind and hit the track until I have the cash saved up for a 4L80e.

i really dont get wtf is goin gon with your truck. its front driven correct??

there something going on and joe at left coast 32 has a cam specd out the lep sells get the guys 30 plus rwhp and didnt lose boost. I think cam swap gained a few gusy 25-35 at wheels but torque 40-50.

I wish you the best totally. At this point though i would do a 8 rib set up and run joes 2.7 race pulley boost prob 15 psi out of it and call it good.

Yup, front drive & I have just converted to an ASP 8-rib setup. It has been suggested that I mill the AFR 71cc heads down 64-65cc to reduce the combustion chamber size...thus allowing the 122hh to be more efficient at filling the cylinders. I will likely do this at some point.

Here's the graphs (old numbers are dashed lines), boost first:

By the IAT's, it seems that the 122 is out of its efficiency range and blowing hot air. At that temperature, you are probably only getting 12-13 degrees of timing.

The engine has became more efficient if you are running 2 less pounds of boost and making similar power. Are you running meth? How is your vacuum at idle with that cam? Are you running a 90mm TB? DRx harness?

Stick with it man and you will figure it out.
