I've actually seen a few people running both so they can get an even shorter belt on which allows them to take up the initial slack with the manual tensioner and then the spring loaded one takes over when the belt starts to stress. It's a little redundant and really just a band aid for the real problem, but it works for some.

Don't waist your money or time with a manual tensioner. Call Joe at leftcoast 32 and get an HD tensioner from him. It's money well spent.

I stripped a rib off my last belt. but I had the procharger pulley on backwards and the belt was rubbing on the rim. all is good now.

anytime we push an engine with a charger, we end up installing a manual tensioner. might be something to look at.

A manual tensioner might be fine for a low boost combo or a cog belt, but a serpentine belt driving a blower....nothing beats a good spring loaded tensioner.

Sorry to bring up an old post but I went thought this and it took me over a year to figure it out.
When we took the supercharger off to replace the belt for the 3rd time the alternator fell off. The mounting plate for the supercharger was holding the alternator bracket together. New alternator bracket and all has been good for a several years now.
