Issue with radix - high pitched whistle...
#1
I have a loud very high pitched whistle, almost like tea pot whistle coming from underneath my hood. I dont know if I misses something, but its there. It is only present when I give it part throttle and there is still vacuum, once it passes from vac to boost, it goes away. Do I have a vacuum leak somewhere? I checked all of the clamps on the intake before the throttle body, and I did find one not seated properly, but fixing that didnt solve it. I would also think that if it was after the blower, not before, that I would have a boost leak and show less boost on the gauge. Any ideas? Or...is this high pitched whistle just part of the radix gig?
Thanks.
Thanks.

never heard a whistle before....you might want to check your install again, starting with the TB gasket and the intake gaskets. What RPM does your truck idle at? Is the whistle at idle or load?

It is under a slight load. Idle is at 520-550rpms and steady. I know hte belt is not a gator back, its the one the guy sent me with the kit. Someone esle mentioned a boost bypass valve not adjusted properly. Is that the one they say not to pick it up by? I never picked it up by that, but who knows. Its only when there is vacuum on my boost boost gauge. Once the needle gets to 0 or goes into boost, the noise goes away.

Ok...I'll do that tonight. I think the kit is 3-4yrs old...came off of a 2003 ss...I even have the dinky intercooler and a 3.4" pulley originally. When you say relief...are you talking about the relief just above the circular opening into the j tube on the throttle body mounting surface? If so, I can tell you I clearly remeber seeing that was a sharp edge. Its like an oval shape that goes up towards the top TB moutning bolt right?

If I'm going to file that, I should probably stuff a clean rag in the j-tube to prevent any filings making their way into the blower and vacuum it out well, clean it before re-installing everything.
