Default ideas for cooling intake air temp?

I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas for helping cool the air intake charge. it is intercooled, but every little bit can help. I have an old KN cai that was fitted to the whipple intake.. But the box area doesnt really seem to be isolated much from engine heat.. I was wondering if there is anything much more i can do that doesnt look too redneck.. lol. Maybe like insulating wrap on the intake tube, or some kind of foam around the box to help seal it off better.. any ideas?

Methonal injection! This would help you out a lot! You would even gain some HP/TQ on meth with a tune! I think Vortec350ss is running the same type of setup, but he's running meth. Maybe look at some of his threads and that will help you out!

There are a few of us on here running meth. I have had great luck with it.

Definitely helps IAT's with a blower. I assume you have a top mount whipple kit if its intercooled?

Insulate the box with this from
thermo tec insulation thermo tec insulation
and Use this http://www.dhgate.com/product/120-quot-3-meter-car-door-rubber-edge-trim/168399503.html along the top edge to seal the top of the box to bottom of the hood

then ceramic coat the tube inside and out, do the outside of the box as well if you want.
Then wrap the tube with this from
thermo tec thermo tec
.
use this to stick the insulation on
3m adhesive spray 3m adhesive spray
.

I typically use left over header wrap on my CAI tubes.

If you haven't done it yet. under the CAI box. there will be a steel plate. Remove it. this will allow a Huge Direct shot to fresh air from behind the fender.

The combined effort of all of the above will Significantly reduce IAT and heat soak cool down. Then add meth. once you have used up all other methods of reducing IAT's.

im trying to keep from the expense of adding meth, and i dont think there is anywhere to get it around here. But for instance, if the outside air is 80 degrees, when cruising along at 65 my IAT as read through the diagnostic is 110 to 120. just seems high to me.. I think half the plate on the air box is removed,, i can see the fender through it. The seal that use to be on the surrounding KN box has all fallen off, It didnt touch the hood anyway so what was the point. And on the bottom of the box there is an area that is not closed off as well. I was thinking of wrapping everything in something like mentioned. Like wrapping the intake tube and wrapping the coolant lines for the intercooler. and trying to close off the air box better.

Tons of guys use windshield wiper fluid. It's pretty cheap and readily available don't you think?

love water/meth... I use windshield washer fluid also, and airbrake antifreeze (99.9% meth) mix them to get about 50/50... sometimes 70/30 depending on weather
