Default help with build

Hi guys I have a bone stock 5.3 with a maggi on it. It had some pinging problems in earlier stages. Got it decently tuned and it ran good for a while till it started burning oil. Now I pulled it the other day and got the heads off and it needs help. Probly a bore with oversize pistons. Now my question is do I mess around with my 5.3 or do I look into finding a 6.0 and puttin my maggie on it? And if i should were and how do I find one?

Any advice is appreciated..

What are your goals with the truck? Do you have a budget in mind?

I'd see what you can find in your local salvage yards. Look for a low mileage LQ4, LQ9, or even a L33. Add a decent cam, headers, and converter to it. Use the rest of your budget for a 80E conversion.

So if I go with a 6.0. Does all the wiring, headers and everything bolt up. Like is it a perty straight forward swap?

Yep, Follow AK's advice he's right on.

Just so you know, the 4.8 5.3 and 6.0 are all identicle on the outside.

You can find a nice low mile 5.3 usually for around 500-700$

A nice 6.0 will usually run 1000 or more.

Either stock longblock with cam , headers and 10 #'s of boost will def give ya 450+ RWHP.

My combo is on a stock 2003 LQ4 6.0 longblock, she runs ok LOL.

This will get ya where you need to be. If you have some extra scratch left over think about some heads. The problem you will run into then is everything will outflow the blower and you will have trouble hitting the high boost levels.

If all you want it 450 at the wheels you dont even need to get into heads though, AK is a perfect example of what you need to do. Follow his lead.
