heater core/heat exchanger
#1
Has anyone ever tried looping the hoses from the water pump for the heater core and running their heat exchanger hoses into the heater core (as well as the actual heat exchanger). This would allow you to run the blower fan to blow air over the core in an attempt to drop the temps while sitting still. Any thoughts on this?

My thought on it is more for a truck that is raced alot, but street use could be in there. Now that I'm in the south I see this as more of a possibility. It is in the 70's this week and will be in the 80's next week.

i think it may help , but not nearly enough , as well as increase the i.a.t.'s enough to reduce the power output . personally , i have a e-fan over ride and let it stay on for a few minutes , turn the truck on , circulate the water that was cooled in the radiator and contine to do so until i reach the line , now i have an electric water pump going in i should be able to get my ect down a bit , just need to have a good battery or two.

I remember reading about the syclone guys doing this way back in the day with decent results, but there exchangers are tiny to begin with and engine bays are that much hotter with a turbo. I wouldnt hesitate to try it if i had a truck thats not really a DD or lived somewhere that doesnt need heat that much..
why not, would just need a nice strong pump, i dont see how it could hurt imo..?

Heating the cab wouldn't be so bad. In a regular truck there is a ton of room for a heat exchanger with a fan on it. In a vehicle lacking room such as an SSR, TBSS, or others that are tight on space. Hell maybe I'll try it on something sometime to see if it works at all.

Vanillagorilla did it with his truck. Said it worked pretty good. Turn the AC on and put the temp on full high and it will cool the air really cold and then blow it though the trucks heater core cooling the water in it to BELOW ambient. You just need to put a catch can on the HVAC drain to catch the drips from running the AC if your at the track.
