Going back to stock cam?

It failed HC. Lowering the timing is supposed to let the fuel and air mix for longer resulting in a hotter and more complete burn. I found a link where someone actually tested this theory (and others for passing smog) and lowering the timing gave a significant reduction in HC. At least that's the theory. I has dropped the idle timing to 12 deg when it passed the second time.
lol if they only knew, do they not pop your hood or anything?

Im surprised to hear you think its too much cam... you already have the springs and everything... what about a more timid custom grind?
You have 16* of overlap built into that... I'm surprised you can even hear it at idle. Is there any advance ground into it?

Just curious, with the daily driver aspect, does the cam make the truck shake too much while stopped at red lights, etc? Or poor drivability? Noise? Just curious what makes you want to change it besides smog.

Damn and I thought my triple 12 seemed pretty stockish, other than the added power and chunky idle in PARK and NEUTRAL.
Must be getting old?
Otherwise you can't tell my truck is even cammed. Must be because of the turbo?
But as for how the idle feels, you should be able to tune and smooth it out enough.
