Default Exhaust size

I have 1 3/4 headers on the truck, into a single 3 inch. The mods are TFS 205s, 216/218 .560 114 cam and Kenne Bell charger @9psi . What type of power if any is being left out? I would like to go duels but what size, bigger Header? I Know the cam is not perfect, but I have a 6.0 block just waiting, to see if it goes in the truck or maybe an F body.
Thanks, Bill

I’m curious as my 2016 5.3 is similar. If you look at the recommendations it should be dual 3”.

The merge to 3" is the greater restriction. The upgrade to 1 7/8" primaries probably won't yield the power gains to justify the price. A dual in/out straight through muffler (magnaflow, borla, or similar) will be the easiest way to free up the flow. 2.5" or 3", either will be an improvement.

So for power gains wise, go with a dual over a Y then, correct?

Had a good deal on some headers and Y, but if performance wise True duals are the answer, then id rather go that route.

I'd probably go with this:

https://www.speed-engineering.com/sh...universal.html

And I'd go with one of the brands mentioned as speed engineering muffler offerings are pretty loud. But of course, muffler selection for tone and volume can be left up to you. The true dual setup won't be a worry in the future if and when you upgrade to more cam/displacement.

throw in a dual 3" with an H pipe and call it done. the theory behind an X pipe doesn't make as much sense when you're forcing air in/out of the engine. N/A or Nitrous I would be inclined to suggest a X pipe.

X2
Find a way to add another 3” pipe for duals and will be plenty for a mild setup not going for all out, decent 3/4” headers can make plenty of power with the rest of the exhaust fairly open.
