Default How much power does a full exhuast kill?

I know this probably has been asked a bunch of times but i wana know more or less on my set up. I have a 5.3 turbo mild cam on 10 psi and currently dumps right next to the transmission from a 2.5 inch down pipe feels strong makes 489 hp to the wheels but its really loud how much horse power have you guys seen lost from a exhuast all the way to the back with a blow through muffler all 2.5 inch?

That tiny downpipe seems like it's hurting you a lot too.

Needs 3in minimum if you ask me.

Here is a test by sloppy with a loud valve and full exhaust, the results are pretty impressive. May be something to look into on that loud valve. Quiet when you want it and nice open exhaust when you need it.

My fastest track pass was through full 4" exhaust all the way out the bumper. I never got to run it on the cutout unfortunately. Most I have seen gain a lot on a turbo setup when the exhaust is uncorked.

I noticed a difference switching out my 3.5” with flowmaster to 4” with a diesel muffler. Truck liked it much better on the freeway too, turbo spooling seemed to improve. Likely due to muffler switch I believe.

You def need a 3 inch down pipe.

I ran 3 inch from the dp into a cutout at the trans, then resonator and huge muffler into axle back exhaust. sounded good and when i opened it up, made a ton of power.

Loud valves use boost to open, instead of electrical switch. We sell the loud valves. They are very nice set ups.

Has anyone who used them ran into issues with ticking or leaking? That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine on an exhaust.

I've got one on my 69 and I don't hear anything from it. Works really nice. When it's closed, the butterfly is sealing against a small flat edge around the inside of the opening.

Depending on final exhaust muffler and size you might hear something. Just like going from stock exhaust to headers. you hear the exhaust inside the pipe.
