Default Engine rebuild before turbo?

Hi, I'm kinda new to this performance stuff on gas engines. I'm going to put a turbo on my 4.8l along with 60-70 pound injectors. I wanna know how much I need to do to my motor, or if anyone has done anything, or how far I can push it? Please let me know. thanks!

What year is your engine? How hard do you want to push it?

Head gaskets, and head studs are a good idea. Valve springs aren't a bad idea either along with a trunion upgrade. A cam will help get the most out of your setup.

new valve springs is all you really need to do at the moment.
but if you really want to push it, your goin to want to get some LS9 head gaskets and head studs.
TR6, or BR6EF spark plugs for boost.

If you want a cam then look at the Isky Triple 12 or something similiar

a good tune and good gas is the key to a long engine life

TR7 plugs might be a good idea if you're going to push it. I am using them.

ls9 gaskets and head studs a must??? I'm looking to achieve 600rwhp on an otherwise stock 13' 5.3 via a 76mm turbo and bigger injectors.

If you want to push it and be safe.. yea prolly need them.. usually up around 15psi is when the stock head bolts start stretching and pushing coolant..

im still on stock bolts and gaskets.. but i rarely go over 6psi
but there was a time when it kept goin 25psi in third.. safety built into the tune kept it alive.

Do you know what happened? Detonation?
You can blow one up with 5psi if your tune is jacked up.
