OK guys, forgive my stupid questions on this because i;ve been out of the loop for a while...
My truck is non-flexfuel 2003 Avalanche, i've got a Livernois intercooled Front mount turbo set up running 10lbs of boost and 44lbs Marine injectors from the 8.1L (included with turbo kit). Other then that the motor is all stock. Custom Dyno tuned.
Can I run e85 in my truck with my current set up? I've read about tuning issue on the Flexfuel trucks where they have to know what fuel is in the tank but, is this a problem on a set up like mine? Do I need to change anything about my fuel system? Maybe add a meth kit?
If I can run e85, can i freely switch back and forth from e85 and 93 octane gas on the fly? like if on a road trip and can't find e85...
i know these are probly noob wustions but, like i said i've been out of the loop for a while... But at $112 per tank it would be nice to save some money, even if just a little here and there.
Thanks guys

e85 wont save you any money since you will use ~30% more of it than reg gas.
no you wont be able to swap from one fuel to the other unless you have that special sensor and the tuning to go with it.
your fuel pump and injectors may not be large enough to run e85
there are some concerns that parts of the fuel system may not hold up to e85 but i think you would be ok there.
just my $.02 but e85 doesn't make any sence even ifyou have a flex fuel vehicle. not from a money stand point or an enviromental standpoint. BUT for a turbo set up it does make sence to me if you can use the extra octane. not sure of the limit but you would be able to run a few more lb's of boost than you do now from switching from 93 to e85.
the guys that i have talked to that use e85 as cheap race fuel with their boosted set ups report haveing to watch their tune from tank to tank.

As far as watching your tune from tank to tank.... E85 can go down to E70 in our area. This would cause you to run a little rich but the trims work pretty well to balance things out.
