Default Come beat the ready dead TURBO horse with me.

Ok guys. I've been searching and lurking for months and finally registered. There is a TON of info on here, but I am looking for some specific info.

I have a 2012 ext gmc. 5.3L

I have purchased a stg2 trick performance kit.

Questions I have as far as supporting the kit I can't seem to find direct answers any where on here. Maybe they are around, but I haven't find them yet.

I will be staying with the 70mm turbo for the life of this truck. I would like to run around 10-12psi. I don't WANT to change the trq converter if I don't absolutely have to. This is more a tow rig than a play toy. But it may get rolled raced once in a while for fun. Nothing serious.

I've been reading and my parts list is as follows:

Trick performance stg2 kit
Ls9 60lb injectors
Wideband
Boost gauge
Turbo blanket
Heat wrap for turbo log and dp

The ruck will have a bone stock 5.3L. Not planning on a cam or anything at this time. Maybe next yr if funds allow.

I'm debating on installing meth. I live in south east Texas and it get boiling hot. I'm thinking ill need it for safety reasons just in case.

Will I need the meth to run 10-12lbs safely?

I'm looking at getting a 2bar map sensor for the tune as well.

My fueling should be good. Truck is a flex fuel model.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Brian tooley double springs are good at an affordable price. I would also reccomend hardened pushrods again brain tooley. Also I would suggest a bigger fuel pump and the biggest injectors you can afford. 96lbs injectors would be my choice. I cant remember what can really be done with the NNBS fuel pump. Also if you are changing springs etc While your in there swap in an isky triple 12 cam. It will supply lots of fun power without changing stall or driveability. You need to delete any VVT/DOD BS that was built into your motor. It's not too bad to do. You can see how this all adds up quick.

The flex fuel pump and 60lb'ers should do fine for what I'm wanting. Nothing over 500hp for the near future of this truck. Pushrods and springs are ok but I don't wanna cam the truck just yet. Maybe in a yr or two.

I've spoken to my tuner about the dod. He said its not problem to turn off ;D

Thanks or the tips guys. Keep em coming.

Weve been running that exact setup. 2010 5.3 flex fuel crew cab with a T70 at 11psi with 60lb injectors on stock everything with DOD turned off for about 20k and no problems yet, and we beat the crap out of it on a daily basis. We do have a isky triple 12 were gonna put in it with a dod delete, valve springs, pushrods, ls9 headgaskets, arp bolts but its running good so were in no hurry.

You can turn off the DOD, however the DOD mechanical parts are prone to failure if you have it turned off or not. Your talking about 10-12lbs of boost which is going to be increased pressure on parts which are not designed to hand that pressure. Your springs are much less of a concern to me than your lifters. The DOD lifters collapse causing cam damage quite often. If you are concerned about reliability then this should be your #1 concern especially under boost. The cam which has been recommended is one that is extremely mild, but also one that responds great to boost in smaller motors. You can swap to a stock Non-DOD Cam/Lifters etc. However, I think you might as well do a decent Cam at the same time. I would be wary of trying to push those injectors/fuel pump with that much boost. You will want to keep an eye on your IDC and fuel pressure. Best case scenario keep the IDC below 85% and you don't want to see any kind of fuel pressure drop.

This is good to hear. Running any sort of meth on that? I'm hoping to have the same luck. I won't be beating on my truck really all that often.

Nope no meth. Trucks not addicted yet lol. Im pretty sure its on a very, very, very, conservative tune as its running on 89 octane. Let em rip.
