The Cat is outta the bag!!!

I just got outta a "Challenge" w/. Billy. I'm not lookin to rush into another.
Not even a fair fight.
You're not doin the tranny rebuild, someone else is & u have a hoist. Those are some time-savers right there. I know they're different tasks, but ya get the point.
I still gotta go to track & dyno to see what I gained from my FLT L7 & Circle D stall combo. I'm considering flogging the **** outta her w/. a Radix & no Truetrac. I only have 2 fears: Breakin at track (small) & breakin an $$$$ tranny & stall (a much bigger fear) as a result of a rearend exploding.
Here's why I say all of this: I wanna see what Radix can do on 3.42s. I repeat, I don't wanna blow my tranny setup. If it's not where I think it should be, I might get 4.10s.
It's $250 labor for whenever that cover comes off. If I just do a Truetrac, it's $250 to open it up. Or $250 to do rear & gears. If I just do a TT, & down the road say, I want gears, it's like spending $250 extra. Does that make sense?
Plus, now I gotta rebuild my wallet & my insurance is due. In a month I think I can do what I need (want) to.

Two things Tom.
1) I don't have a hoist at my shop....yet....
2) My trans builder closed the doors to his shop, and has taken a new job full-time. He still does a very little bit of transmission work, but just nights & weekends in his spare time, or when he wants to.
3) I've never broken anything at the track, ever.
4) I'm still rocking a 135K mile G80. Apparently, it's stronger than my transmission.

1) No hoist? Really?
2) Now what? I thought he was gonna fix it?
3) Impressive.
4) Your most surprising comment of all. I'm shocked. How? You must not beat on it like I do. Or really lucky?!?

Everything's bigger in AK....
Even the beer.
1) Really. A hoist is nice to have, for sure, but with all of the other expenses and equipment that is absolutely necessary, we are doing things without a hoist. In a couple of months, should be able to get one.
2) He's a buddy of mine, and will not leave me hanging. Dropping off the transmission to him tomorrow. He stopped by my shop today to say hi, and sniff the fluid. He said "yep, smells like blue raybestos." Apparently they smell different.
3) I didn't mention that I've only been to the track 2 different days.
4) Oh, trust me, I beat on it. Traction is often an issue, so it's not unusual for me to shift into 4x4 for the extra grip. Well, I decided to do 3-4 donuts in a parking lot yesterday. After the smoke show, I noticed the t-case was in 4x4.

Also, u don't realize how big a relatively so-called easy weekend job can become when u do that. Maybe u do.
Think about it:
-Basic Radix install
-pin crank
-gauges. I have a bung for w/b, but I'm not really lookin FWD to wiring all my gauges up. It'll be a mess o wires & wiring isn't my thing. I'm no tech, but I'd rather bolt stuff on. I'm sure I'll like the end result tho. I need to check out exhaust now, so I don't damage a w/b; it's hittin x-membere ever since tranny swap/stall. My buddy said I may've weakened the rubber engine mounts by letting engine hang down, if I'm undrestanding correctly, I think that's what he meant on the mounts.
-my fuel rail idea will be added into the project, but it will be on before install.
-any other changes I make along the way. And man, do I have some ideas.

LOL, you know I know how big a weekend job can become "while you're in there"...
Trans swap, turns into
Trans swap and trucooll..."while I'm in there", turns into
Trans swap, trucool, u-joints..."while I'm in there",
Trans swap, trucool, u-joints, split transfer case, replace clip, and re-seal..."while I'm in there",
Trans swap, trucool, u-joints, transfer case mod, gut cats..."while I'm in there",
Trans swap, trucool, u-joints, transfer case mod, gut cats...almost forgot, gotta swap PCM (no biggie, 5 minutes, but it adds up)..."while I'm in there"
Trans swap, trucool, u-joints, transfer case, gut cats, swap PCM, swap on summer wheels and tires..."while I'm in there",
Can't remember what else I did "while I was in there", but the weekend project found it's way into the week and didn't get finished until Wednesday night, and it's still not done as I'm still waiting for my second PCM update and new relays for my efans to show up...
I highly doubt that you hurt the engine mount, unless one or both of them tore, they should be fine. I've hung many many engines from the mounts, some times for days at a time with transmissions out of the vehicle, and never damaged at mount yet. Something may have shifted though...
BTW, I'm great with electrical, but I take my time and go slowly these days

Not what she said.IDK if 2 days counts then.

Geez, your list is a lot worse than mine. I just went FLT L7, Circle D, TruCool to --> painted TruCool, fabbed & painted cooler brkts & AN thruout. OK, so my changes list makes it look bigger in writing than I saw it in my head.
Great w/. electrical, huh?
4 or 5 gauges wired = some beer for you, good times, & I won't pound on u at track as bad.
OK, so maybe I can't promise I won't go all out at track.
