bov

ok i have a bov from rick from trick performance....they guys that rebuilt my motor dont wanna put it on because they say its messed up. im not sure how they work but if im not mistaken arent they supposed to only open up when you let off the throttle after boost?? they are saying thats how i blew my motor when i clarly told them i hooked up the wg wrong. they said its supposed to be set the same as the wg so if it sees to much boost it will open even during boost.

Hmm didn't We talk early about this?
Most bov have one port. This port connects to a vacuum sorce after the throttle body.
The bov will open when there's a large enough pressure differential vaccum/boost to off set spring psi.
Normally you want to have enough spring psi to remain closed at max vacuum no boost.
The valve will open when your boosting and then closed throttle.
At this point. Vaccum is pulling on bov, boost pushing the bov valve.
This is a large offset then spring psi. Valve opens.
I believe your engine builder is thinking wrong or maybe a bypass valve. Who knows. Like I told you today on the phone,
If you want send the valve back I will check it out.
Sucks is they took it apart already and not sure if they put it back together correctly.
