Default best factory head casting for a turbo 5.3?

so if you had a choice of any factory casting what would you pick? is the 862 the best for a street driven vehicle because it keeps the compression up or would 241's be better?

If you have a GenIII 5.3:

706/862 if you want stock compression, 243/799 is you want lower compression, 317 if you want the lowest compression

I wouldnt go lower then 9.5cr, just less power without boost and slower turbo spool. get a 243 and mill then .020 and keep your cr.

Mill them down and the deck will be thinner. That is asking for trouble, esp when you get used to the boost and decide to turn it up.

Stock, you over think the setup it will run horrible. 317's on a 5.3 is a bad idea. There are alot if guys making 18-23 pounds of boost in the stock heads. Higher compression will make more boost you just need to control detonation by using meth or e85
