Well the old 6.0 in the truck is getting tired, so before I install the new turbo kit im building my old 5.3 ive been tripping over for the last 5 years. Here is the setup-

New turbo kit I believe is Tricks stage 3 kit with a precision 74/75mm

Boring the 5.3 to stock ls1 bore. New forged wiesco pistons, eagle h beam rods, prc cnc ported 5.3 heads. Not sure on which cam ill go with yet. Also may upgrade depending on funds to an 80e since I just lost OD in the 4l65e. Not trying to break any records just want something that will take some abuse. Ill keep everyone posted on numbers when its up and running.

 

Sounds like you got everything worked out. I also have a 5.3 I've been tripping over lol. Are you going to be doing any pre-turbo dyno runs with the iron LS1? I've been thinking about going that route with a future project.

 

i was going to build a spare engine also .thinking of doing same thing since i have 2 5.3 already. nothing wrong with my 6.0 .just looking to have a spare .i cant see my self paying 1000 + for 6.0 just for a block and crank .

 

Gonna be a stout setup...Seems like there's a red GMC running 9.7x's on an Iron LS1 from Thompson motorsports.
