Question Best gear ratio for my blown rcsb

Ok i got a tru trac coming in for my 08'blown 4.8,it currently has 3.23's,ill br running 8psi,26-28inch tall tires, but im debating on which gear ratio to go with.im all about racing so mpg is not a issue.i was aiming towards 4.10's,but freinds keep telling me 3.73,so i just want to get opinions please..thanks

You should probably determine your actual tire size first, then decide on the gear ratio.

4.10's with 28" tires is just about the same as 3.73's with 26" tires.

Sorry for the hijack -

I'm in the same boat, but with a 31.5" tire. Is there a calculator of some kind that will let you plug in tire size, tranny gear ratio, and rear gear ratio to find the right gearing? I thought I had found one somewhere before, but cannot seem to find it.

optimized for the track (especially quarter mile), you want your gearing to put you at the very top of Drive as you are going through the traps. That's how my Impala was with the stock engine with 4.10s and 28" tires. It only trapped 102.6, but the stock cam is only 191/196@.050 so it really didn't like to turn much RPM.

With my truck's 3.23 gears and 30" tires, I can run a full quarter in the first 2 gears...
