Behold the 383 shortblock

I finally got my valve seats machined and got a lot done today, even with a torn ligament in my hand. The heads went on easy even with the studs in place. There was lots and room and torquing was a snap. The blower is on but I'll need to shim some pulleys before the belt goes on. I should get quite a bit done tomorrow.

Glad to hear it is running!

I can't seem to get it to run very good. I've put in the tables for the MAF and injectors and am running the 1-bar MAP. It shows 7 degrees of knock retard for some reason. I'll keep plugging away.

I got my driveshafts in and installed. I fired it up and went for a 10 mile drive. The transmission feels great, the lockup is awesome. It shifts just right as far as I can tell. I'll need to get used to driving with a stall but so far I like it. There are no leaks anywhere but I have a couple little problems. First is the idle settings which have it idling pretty poorly. Once I'm going it seems pretty nice and feels like a beast already. The wideband is showing an acceptable 14.8 or so in cruise and down to 11 or so when I put the pedal down. The other problem is some vibration above 60mph which feels like driveshaft vibration. I'm going to flip the driveshaft 180 degrees and see if that helps. No leaks at all so far.

You sure it was lm7 5.3 change to 383? Did it cause overheat since of cylinder wall become to thin since of bored to 383? where crank come from 5.3 or 6.0?
The crank is a Manley forged 4" stroker crank.
With my 5.3 I really had to stomp on it to smoke the tires. Now it's like half pedal or so. I'm breaking it in right now but when that's done it's going to be a lot of fun.
