So far, so good. Aside from there being a lot of cylinder boring, the block needed no clearancing for the rods or reluctor wheel. The pistons sit perfectly flush with the deck. The cylinder walls range from .105" on the pin side to .175" on the thrust sides. Vinci's cam speced out perfectly. I plan to run about 9lbs of boost. Here are the specs of the entire build: LS Engine build - 383.64ci displacement 6286.73cc's -LM7 iron block bored to 3.907 bore. -CP BLS1002-007 forged pistons 3.905 bore, -18.2cc dish, 1.110 Compression Height. -6.125" Eagle forged H-beam rods. -4.00" Manley forged crank w/.927 pin & 2.25 journal, 24 tooth reluctor. -.051 3.910” GM MLS head gasket. -62cc CNC'd & milled .012” Patriot heads w/2.02, 1.57 valves. -9.58:1 compression @ 9.235 deck ht. -Piston-deck height .000” -Custom cam 228/236 .551/.551 116 ground by VHP (my specs, with 1.8 roller rockers: .585/.585 lift). -Crane Gold Race 1.8 roller rockers. -Crane extreme duty dual valvesprings. -VHP Hardened pushrods. -GM LS6 lifters. -GM LS7 timing set. -Melling 10296 oil pump. -ARP head studs, crank studs, con rod bolts, cam bolts, flexplate bolts. -Magnusen TVS1900 blower, 2.8” pulley, Innovators West 10% overdrive crank pulley, HD tensioner (full 8-rib setup). -Thick flexplate. -Holley 90mm TB with 4" intake tube and MAF. -Yank 2600 stall. I'm now waiting for warmer weather to do the block painting, final assembly and install. I was just wondering if the lifter trays might be installed upside down, does anyone know? Also, the timing chain seems a little loose to me but I'm not too worried about it. I'll update any progress. |
The lifter trays are installed correctly, they are Gen IV trays. Is the chain new? No chain guide?

That's a very nice piece. I cant wait to see this thing completed. Its going to be a monster!

My chain was the same way all new parts and all that slack struck me as odd but it works. I have seen that the newer blocks not sure of year but it had the guide in the middle of the gears. Nice build should make tons of power.

To install the chain guide on the slightly older Gen III’s you have to drill and tap the block for it. It’s no big deal, but on the other hand it’s obviously not absolutely necessary either.
It should prove to be a beast! |
Those chains are just that way. I have pulled appart 500mi ls1's that are loose as a goose. Just watch your cam intake centerline because a 114+2* will come in around 114-115* That can really make for a dog off idle in certian combos.

I'm also wondering if the 43lb injectors will suffice for this setup. I'm thinking I might have to go with 60's. Some advice would be great.
