Default Anyone run an 8.1L Paxton SC'r

Just curious as they are the only current manufacturer that I can find...

Anyone have one?

I'd like to boost the motor only on the low end vs some of our higher pressurized brethren.. Thought this might fill the bill since it is "all there"..

Let me know,
Stew

Haven't heard of anyone running a paxton (vortech or procharger either) on a 8.1. If I am not mistaken, whipple has a kit for the 8.1, I think someone on here has one

Ive been hearing of rumors floating around that a front mount may surface for the 8.1 . I may have to do a BB swap.

WJ Mark,
what do you mean "a front mount"? Curious as to what rumor you heard.

Y2KLimited,
Whats your experience been like with the 6.0l/paxton combo. Dyno numbers? Ease of installation, reliability?

Yeah, Paxton makes one for the 8.1L with an intercooler, FMU etc.. Like I said, its all there. Its just alot of coin. 5K+

Being that Whipple, KB, ati, Vortech, Magna don't or no longer make a BBC supercharger they look like they have the market cornered.

If anyone has one, tell me.
thanks for the replies

I dont think paxton makes one for the 8.1L

When i was looking the only two companys where whipple, and kenne bell. The Bell only made like 50 wheel hp increase and was like $6K.

I have a friend that owns a performance shop. They do a LOT of vettes. He kept telling me we could make a procharger work, but i never made it over to the shop for a test fit...

Do like i did and search e bay ever day. I got a whipple from them. Its not installed yet but Whippled496 had good results.. Also STS make a complete turbo kit. I think its $9K but no one but Tierod has done one. Brad, a friend of mine did a 5.3L truck with the STS kit and is making 400 wheel hp on a safe tune.. it towes his boat and what not.. He also has one on a 98 Z28 that helped a LOT. that car was making almost 500 wheel hp before he did a cam swap.

my kit doesn't exactly constitute a 'paxton' kit.

its essentially a kit designed by my buddy's vette shop that simply uses a paxton head unit, just like their vette kit does. Ease of installation? well its way easier than a vette install, but they used my truck to design the kit so I never installed it. I fried an electric fan and needed to tow the next day so I yanked out the e-fans and threw the clutch fan back in which required removing the head unit. Its out at the moment.......and I haven't put it back, starting the state police academy in 12 days and figured I'd kinda like discrete vs. a whine under the hood and more attention than a year old 50K truck will already get. Just yanked the 20's and put the stockers back on it as well.

reliability? 10 month or so and never missed a beat, I changed the oil once (late, whoops) on the head unit. Everything else was good.

The head units themselves ahve been trouble free at my buddy's shop (think of it this way they spend well into 6 figures annually on headunits alone with paxton)

but if that kit is designed with a FMU etc. I'm not big on that stuff, I say bigger injectors and a full tune.....
