Default Another 4.8 turbo build

Time to step in to the boost world
After much debate about whether I wanted a TVS or a turbo kit, I've decide I will give turbo a shot.

I've purchased a set of KB Racing hot pipes and intercooler setup from the classifieds. Gonna piece together everything else I need over the next few months and rip in to it over the winter.

Since my goals will effect my setup the most I suppose I will start there. Truck is a 2003 4.8 liter with 68k miles. I'm by no means looking to break any records and hardly ever track race my ****. I'm thinking somewhere in the low to mid 400hp range. I would like to keep the truck on pump gas (91 or 93), no E85 and no meth. I want to lock in a solid tune for like 8lbs and just leave it there if that will get me to my desired power level.

LS6 cam/springs seem to be a proven stick so I think that would be a wise choice as far as my cam goes.

Drivetrain will be beefed up with a 4L80E and truetrac/3.73s.

For fuel I'm gonna do a drop in Warlbro 255 from Racetronix, I like that these are pretty much ready to go.

As far as turbo, injectors, wg/bov and misc. I'm up for suggestions... I figure there are plenty enough proven setups out there to get this right the first time around

sounds like a good plan, t70 would be a good turbo for the power your looking for and many trucks are getting good power out of them, and once you get boost your going to want more so 400 range is a good start, i would leave room for upgrade on most things you can buy 80 lb injectors to leave room for power and then just drop another 255 in and run e85 for future.

Your head is in the right place, build the truck first and then bump up the power...I went other way around Nothing worse than knowing you can't turn up the wastegate because your trans is a pos and slips under any power! T70 would be a good choice...I like Synapse wg/bov for their unique advantages but there are plenty of choices in that dept, I think Kyle builds his hot pipes for JGS usually...

Just look at Foose04's early turbo stuff. T67 I believe and was making like 600hp. I wouldn't go any bigger then a 70mm/.96ar if you want to have a decent bottom end. Maybe even a .86ar to spool it up a little quicker.

As far as the Racetronix 255 kit... It drops right in, just plug and play.

Can't wait to see this get done. You found one very nice truck! I expect to see this at All Truck Nationals next August!

Good feedback so far guys. I know the whole "you're always going to want more once you've had a taste" lol. For now I'll start off small and deal with that later

Ya I really liked the Racetronix one, I believe it was you that posted that thread up? I like how that one just drops in and its ready to go. Also like that it keeps the basket full of fuel even when the tank is low.

That's kinda what I am aiming for... Foose's early power levels, 500 on pump gas would be killer

Oh and Chris, eff you for talking me in to this lol.

Yea man the racetronix unit is nice. ALL new sensors and everything. Supposed to have like a little jet pump to keep the bucket full.

From Racetronix... "features a built-in jet pump. This jet-pump keeps the module full of fuel even when the tank is low."
