Default Alcohol and water in intercooler

Has anybody ran alcohol and water mix through there water to air intercooler? I know when we race our latemodel dirt track cars the intakes will get really cold from the alcohol going into the engine. Just thought it might help with cooling if it is ran through the intercooler at higher pressure. Any thoughts? I live where I have to have something that will not freeze. It is either antifreeze or thought I would try this. Thanks

Water is more efficient at removing heat. The only advantage to alcohol is a lower freezing point.......now if you added dry ice to ethanol in the water.......

I think I would run water/glycol for freeze protection. I am not sure if alcohol is compatible with aluminum.

Water wetter can be added to a water/glycol mix, from a quick search.

Alcohol has a very low boiling point. It also has poor heat conductivity. I'm not sure what those guys were doing, but using alcohol as a coolant is absurd. Straight water and water wetter is the most conductive and efficient, but you need coolant (ethyl glycol) to make the mix non-corrosive. The red is better at this with aluminum than the green, believe it or not.

Alcohol has a cooling effect as it evaporates. Not when used in a closed cooling system where no evaporation takes place.

Thanks for the input. I am going to go with antifreeze and water wetter and I just talked to Joe at Killer Chiller and I am going to run that set up. Thanks again.
