Default '98 up 4.3L Boost Help.

Okay so here's the question/theory. The 1998 and up 4.3L has a problem low power... 190hp sucks now I know there are a few centrifigal chargers out there powerdyne, wynjammer, maybe vortech and possibly something from Mach performance/procharger. But they all have a similar problem they do not adress the central problem that limits the motor. The poppet style fuel injectors basically one injector with a spider of hoses with poppets coming off of it. From all reports the injector system limits the motor to 250 to (maybe) 275 hp sux. this is why I've been bound and determined to put an LS2 in the Blazer. Here is the problem no matter how I look at it the swap will run me 10-15K. Kinda not in the realm of reality for the near future.

So here is my idea I would like to put either a m90 or m112 on the 4.3L I figure a little head work and a nice cam with exhaust I can get 250 n/a outta the motor then boost it to where I wanna go. The big problem is nobody makes something like this (that I know of) if whipple or Kennebelle did that would work for me but I'm pretty sure they don't.

So I figure if I can get someone to make an intercooled manifold to hold the injectors and run a Jackknife type set up like on the Vettes (easiest packaging) but I could handle a set up like the fullsize p/u's. this would take care of my fuel problems and would give me a major power adder.

So after the novel (if you made it this far, thank you) what I'm looking for is some info/help and maybe even some guidance as far as resources.

Thanks for any help you guys give.

Persio.

Why does it have to be an LS2? You can pick up a 300hp 5.3 cheap; like $600-$1000.
Dont shy away from this motor just because its a little smaller than the 6.0. So, you get your 5.3 and install it in your Blazer. Yes, it will cost some; lets say $2000 ballpark, plus you will need LS1 intake and accessories. You are at $3000+-. Lets go a little further and say you need to go ahead and build your tranny. ( you do need to). Add another $1300. $4300 so far, but now you have a v-8 with alot of potential be it turbo or N/A. Of course, before you install your 5.3, it will get a nice cam and a stall.
Right there you have a bad *** truck. JMO..

im with trt on this one, or get a 6.0 LQ4 or LQ9 and swap to car intake ls1/ls6 and that would be bad

or are you wanting a aluminum block

if I do the swap It's gotta be aluminum and LS1 would even do I just know how I am I would get the motor tear into it and rebuild and well $$$$$$$$$$$$$. You know I just think if I could get a Eaton type charger to work I would be able to get it done realisticly where the swap would just stay in the planning phase for way too long. Also there are alot of guys out there on the other forums who would prolly jump at the chance to get something like this. I think realistically I could look to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 400HP out of the 4.3L. I could be wrong, crazy or prolly both.

If you wanna talk about an Eaton on the 4.3, talk to this fella.

There are alternatives to proper fueling of a 4.3. Look around for Edelbrock's 2114 manifold conversion.

IMO, if your not interested in cost and just like the idea of a 4.3 with big power then you can get close to 450+. Just follow what the Sy and Ty's are doing with their turbocharged 4.3L V-6's. I can tell you from experience those engine's are strong but they are explensive. If your on a budget I'd go with what TRT is saying. and your upside is alot higher. And you can even sell your 4.3 afterwards.

buy a complete 5.3L, stuff a cam, stall, cheap blower and you're probably still going to be cheaper then the modded 4.3

I run the 2114 edelbrock intakes.. both with my own turbo kit and with my own Revolution Raceworks Procharger kit.

Not that Mach junk.

I have seen nice numbers so far with the 2114's and after I get myself all settled in vegas im sure I will have more numbers to post.

But honestly if money isnt an issue throw a 5.3 or a 6.0 in it and call it a day

Don't forget, you can sell everything you take off and help offset the labor or parts!

yeah I know guys. I keep having like a mid project crisis trying to decide about this the problem is the 10-15K I think what I'm gonna do is try to score one of the aluminum 5.3L and try to back door the project to get the price down.
