My son has a bored out 5.3 (to 5.7) with a Trick turbo setup that's running too good. Just got it back from the tranny shop. Twisted the output shaft in two (on just 6psi).
Either way should work well. The 5.3 I was going to bore out to 5.7 was on the thin side when I had it sonic tested. I must have had a rare thin casting? That's just how my luck goes though. How high was your boost when you hurt your engine?

It gets to 9psi pretty quick and holds it. I'm sure it was that high.

Default Update....

Pulled the passenger side valve cover off today. Turns out the #8 intake valve spring was broken. The keepers are gone and the valve is lodged halfway down in the guide. I'm sure it has a nice bend in it. Probably contacted the piston and head in an awkward manner. Another victim of Comp Cams 918 valve springs. I wonder how many engines those springs have trashed.
