408ci/TVS2300/LSA heads build
#191
I've been MIA for awhile and stumbled on your thread, and just read the whole thing. You will definitely be north of 600rwhp...I'm at 550/575 with my 383ci, 122hh @ 8lbs. With 408ci & 12lbs...please.
Question: Why did you need to pin the crank pulley...wasn't the Eagle crank & IW pulley machined for a key?

Not much to report today:
New thermostat installed
PS pulley swapped
Alt pulley swapped
Bell housing bolts removed
Wiring harness all disconnected
Headers unbolted
Plugs removed
Starter off

So all I have left (I think) is the converter bolts and the motor mounts.
What is the best way to remove the mounts? Should I pull them attached to the block so it’s easy to swap over to the new block or unbolt from the block and leave them in the engine bay and line up the new block as I install?
Also do you guys lift or support the tranny before you start pulling the engine?

Leave the mounts on the engine and not the frame, having them on the block will help line up the new motor onto the frame brackets. It won't stop the motor from rocking back and forth but it will line it up to where it's easier to put the bolts in.
And Yes on the tranny support. If you don't it will just lean on the flexplate as you pull the motor and the bellhousing could potentially damage whatever it's rubbing up against.

PM Replied to, nice work!
Did you snap off the heater hoses? Unless your not planning on keeping your heater you could of just left them on, oh well.
That broken piece looks familiar, fuel system, PCV or coolant system?

I think it's a Dorman 800-414 or GM #15055342(?).
