408ci/TVS2300/LSA heads build

1 Attachment(s)
So I got tired of the 6L/112 power :p
I started looking for something fun to put together.
Found a short block for sale. Bought it. Found some heads. Bought them. Found a TVS2300. Will buy soon. Gonna need a blower cam. Gonna need a meth kit, I think.
So far I have the short block:
Attachment 142857
Brand new gm 6.0 block-Arias -3cc forged pistons-Total seal piston rings--Eagle forged H beam rods-Eagle 4.0 forged crank with 58x reluctor wheel-Clevite H main bearings-Clevite G rod bearings-All ARP bolts-brand new truck oil pan -new ls2 front and rear covers-ls7 cam sprocket-ls2 chain-ls2 lifter trays-ls7 lifters-high volume melling oil pump-cam spec'ed out for this motor. 231/239 617/624 lift 113+4 (gonna swap this)
The heads are from Richard at WCCH. They are LSA heads (LS9/ZR1) flow 350CFM at.600/ 75cc chambers w/Patriot Extreme Gold springs
Lingenfelter 58X to 24X crank trigger conversion box, LS9 head gaskets, ARP head bolts, ARP crank bolt. Thinking about an UD balancer.
The blower: TVS2300, 60# injectors, HD tensioner, intake tubing, and front bracket. Don’t know the pulley size yet. Nose drive/\.
With the CR at 10.4:1 I plan to run 10psi. I’m not sure what the TVS2300 will do on a 408.
All this will run through my PI triple disc 2600rpm converter and built 4l80E, 3” OD aluminum drive shaft w/1350 yokes, and my..wait for it…lol…10 bolt w/Eaton posi and 4.10 gears.
Current plan is to get a running tune and drive it 3hrs to TX Speed for a dyno tune.
Might have it together by March.
Comments? Suggestions?

Good luck with your build, it should be stout! The only comment I have and please don’t take it negatively, is check out the welsh plug in the rear of the crank to see whether it appears to be installed correctly or is tight in the back of the crankshaft. The Eagle LS crankshafts have had an issue in the past with the plugs coming loose and leaking, you don’t want to be hunting down mysterious leaks shortly after getting your new bullet installed. Strength wise the Eagle products are there, however some of their quality control has been questionable in the past and it has been up to the machinist/builder to fine tune the finished product.

Again, good luck with your build and I can’t wait to see the outcome.

Youll love it, my high compression 408 with the 1900 was awesome

Interesting. The engine has been run. It has 800 miles on it. No mention of any leaks. I will check into this though..

What CR? How much boost did u see from the 1900?

Atomic 12-31-2010 01:05 AM

11:1, around 7-7.5lbs with a 2.8" pulley

Hmm, I thought 11:1 would be too high. If the 1900 will pushy 7psi then I should squeeze 10-12 out of the 2300:hmmm:
What #'s did you put down?

Three6GMC 12-31-2010 03:31 AM

Should be one hell of a motor when done cant wait to see the numbers you put down with the whole setup... and hmmm this is the first time I have heard about a leaking prob wit the cranks but then again never asked or looked it up, I know this motor doesnt have that problem.
