Anyone run a Hooker Maxflow 4" muffler? I'm putting together a sine 4" system. What are your thoughts on the sound? Any drone? Dumped at the rearend or anyone using tailpipes? Thanks everyone.

 

Any 4" straight thru muffler dumped at the rear end would be too loud for my taste.

 

I had one on my Avalanche for a while. I did a lot of research prior to installing it; it was not supposed to drone. I was MP112 supercharged, stock y-pipe, 2600 stall, TOG's mid-length headers, 4.10 gears, CAI, stock tire size 31.6" tall. It droned like crazy at 65-80 mph. Below 65 and over 80 it was fine, but I couldn't stand it because it droned at the speeds I spent most of my time driving at. I even added a 28" glass pack but it helped very little. Funny thing is, I bought 2 mufflers on closeout and sold the second one to a buddy with an Avalanche with no mods except CAI. No drone on his truck and it sounded great. I ended up taking the MaxFlow off and returning to the OEM system. I sold the other cat-back to another buddy with an Avalanche (bone stock) and there was no drone on his truck. He loves it; it's been on his truck for coming up on 4 years now. I have to assume my issue was my specific combination of mods.

 

I have a 4" but not with that muffler, if you dump it it will be pretty loud period.
