2002 whipple crank pulley problems....
#1
need some help...I am installing a whipple off a 2002 5.3 silverado and the crank pully that came with the whipple won't match up to my 2005 stock crank pulley. It is really close and I can just about get it true, but I don't feel confortable with it like that. We have a 2002 6.0 liter on a stand in the garage and the whipple crank pulley matches that one perfect. Dooes anyone know if Whipple will sell a crank pulley for a 2005 silverado that will work with the 2002 kit? Happened to anybody else?
Thanks

Problem solved. Bearlt500 and I installed a pulley from an 02 Tahoe and the Whipple pulley works perfectly now. For some of you guys that might be thinking about buying one of these older two belt kits for a newer truck they will fit but some mods have to be made

Of coarse you will have to get a crank pulley off of a 99-02 4.8l, 5.3l or a 6.0l. The throttle body will contact the firewall just to the right of the ac dryer so you will have to hammer it , or cut it enough to make room for the torque of the engine. Get rid of the Whipple electronics and upgrade to bigger injectors and custom tune. The air intake will need to be addressed as well. You can make it work, but the fitting really sucks. A custom 4" intake with an open filter will probably be going in Bearlt500's truck once he gets the 2bar sd tune. There is also the bypass issue to iron out. We haven't completely tested it yet, but I ran a toggle switch inside the cab to the electronic actuator that closes the bypass when activated. If it proves to be reliable with no other issues it will also serve as valet/let your friend barrow your truck mode.

Make sure that crank bolt is TIGHT. Many with the 2-pulley setup have had their crank pullies spin on the crank since they're not keyed. There is a pinning kit someone has available where you drill a hole between the pulley and the crank and slide a metal dowl pin in there. Not sure who has that, perhaps someone will speak up.

here's the best plan. buy a larger crank pulley and make silly boost like i did. i can't remember what size i ordered but it took me from 10lbs to 15lbs boost. insane. had to have it made by asp or something like that.
and yes, pin that crank for sure. i spun mine a few years ago. scared the **** out of me

Yes pinning the crank is on the list of mods, as well as a pulley swap. Currently trying to finish installing the meth kit so we can go to Nelson's on Tuesday for a 2bar sd tune. I'll let you guys know how the numbers turn out.
