Parish is right, not even worth it. You will want more and will be tempted to turn up the boost. Everyone stated they will only want 5psi, but once you find it gets you almost nothing for the money you spent, you will want more.

And with low compression, if the cam is right, it will run and drive just fine, as well as in the tuning.

I'm on both sides of the fence. I understand the pro's and cons of both. The lower compression definately has it's advantages for a purpose built application. But if you already have high compression then a smaller turbo and keeping boost in the 5-6 psi range, if tuned properly, would give you better fuel mileage (in theory), more instant throttle torque and fast spool. It would make for a great daily driver. And as said, getting greedy with the boost would lead to problems.

As far as not worth it:
If you fab it yourself then cost is minimal.
And power whenever you want it and not worry about filling a bottle.

It is a matter of perspective.

My perspective: I'm done with searching for the right number, I just enjoy driving mine and enjoying it on my daily commute with the possible red-light run a few times a year.

1 point in compression will net you about 8to12 hp.
not very cost effective from hp to dollar ratio.
But,would I like to here about the build hell yes you never know unless you try.
Another thing people forget about is timing. I don't know about everyone else but my truck grows fat power between 14, and 18*. Higher compression will have to run less timing, and boost. So unless you are at high altitude, running race gas, alcohol, or E85 I would stay below 10:1.

Correct. So everyone that has put a turbo on a LS2 GTO, Corvette, TBSS, or LS7 vette has wasted their money and time?

Thats why I run a whipple cause from my prospective its what works for me.Taking into account money, time, and I don't regret it one bit.I have laid plenty of *** whoopens on the streets in fact I have only barely lost once in a roll race with a 2002 z28.Since then I have installed a 3 1/4 pulley took the cats out, uncorked the choked *** intake, and got some much needed 20 drag radials.

Here's a video of a friends GTO. This is from when it had the LS2 in it at 10.9:1 compression. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/D...gto_141680.htmLink He ran that for quite a while until the bolts came loose from the cam gear. He now runs an LQ9 with a stock longblock except Patriot Gold valve springs and an LS6 cam. It now puts down around 850RWHP with 10.0:1 compression and a turbo upgrade.

I had a turbo on my TA running 6psi with 10.9 compression and it didn't take me any time to break two pistons. I was making 505rwhp but it only lasted for about three months before it broke. I think the tune was pretty good but it may have been on the agressive side. If you do it make sure you have a great tune.

If you could get the tune spot on, imagine running a forged 4.8l at about 11.0 to 1 and 12-13lbs of boost. It would have great efficiency at cruise (ie:MPG) and still be a powerhouse under boost (with a lot of Meth for detonation). I thought I've read before that the Grand National guys run a lot of compression with a ton of boost.
