I have read that low boost and higher comp is the way to go..

I'd say that would be best but not a must. You will be running a risk of detonation higher than most with lower compression. Especially at lower rpm, high load times. Cyl pressures will be higher at all times than a lower comp engine (at the same boost level of course) and tip into boost at lower rpms would be the scariest area IMO.
As said before, tune would have to be very corservative and dead nuts on.

I have forged pistons, eagle rods, ARP head studs, and Patriot Gold springs.

1lbs of boost =15to25 hp
1 point in compression will net you about 8to12 hp.
not very cost effective from hp to dallor ratio.
But,would I like to here about the build hell yes you never know unless you try.

I think what he wants to know is if a pound of boost in a standard motor will make the same or more power than a pound of boost in a high compression motor. I too have been thinking about boost since nitrous runs out too quik.

I am sorry sometimes you have to read between the line on what I say.I just wanted to give him an idea of how little the compression is going to make in power as opposed to more boost.Typical lower compression motor will allow you to run more boost.
this is also dependent on the fuel used in my case I ment using pump gas.

i wouldn't pick a high compresion motor over a low if i was starting from scratch. like sincal t/a pointed out. you might be down 30hp before the boost kicks in from a 9-1 vs 11-1 but you will be safe at 3or4or5 psi more. so down 30hp before boost but up 100hp after boost. i will take the extra 70hp once it is boosted up.

on an 11-1 motor i would be leary to run even 5psi unless you have very good fuel and/or watch the tune real close for awhile.

this would be too much work for a lot of people but if i had an 11-1 motor i would keep it that way but fab up some super trick fuel system where it ran on 91 octane most of the time but under boost phased in some race fuel. be running race fuel any time it is over more than 1-2psi. tune would be some work.
