Exclamation 10k = how much hp.

Hi all, I have a 2006 Chevrolet RSR with a 5.3l. It has the 350hp slp performance pac which contains the following. -

- STAINLESS STEEL SLP HEADERS
- STAINLESS STEEL DUAL EXHAUST WITH STAINLESS TIPS
- 1.85 RATIO ROLLER TIP ROCKERS
- COLD AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
- DIABLO SPORT TUNER
- 3.73 AXLE RATIO

Now I am looking for a supercharger, Whipple is releasing a kit in 90 days for a 2006 5.3l, claiming it will produce 460 hp at the wheels. I am leaning towards waiting for this one. Is whipple better than the procharger and SLP supercharger (same as the Magna SC). I want to do this build right so that means starting at the rear end. I want to beef everything up from the rear end to the top of the engine. My budget is around the 10k to 12k range. Please help me out with the best bang for my buck. I also would like to do the cam, and other engine mods (help me out, I am new to this). I am debating on changing out my headers to long headers and changing out my exhaust to the SLP loud mouth exhaust. (is there any advantage to this?) Please help me out, I want to get around 500hp to 550hp at the wheels!!! Thanks!

Whipple made this claim on a stock truck, not on my truck and yes I realize the cold air induction has to be removed.

For 10,000 on top of what you have you should be able to acheive 550-700 at the wheels, just depends on how you get there.

Blower, cam, headers, small pulley, GOOD TUNING.

Or Turbo, cam, GOOD TUNING.

Dont for get the trans though.............

If you do it smart you can get it all for around 10g's

Which is better, Whipple or the TV2300? How much gain can I see with the TVS 2300?

Who makes the TVS 2300? Is it Radix, SLP or MAGNA..?? I am confused with this.

Will my current headers and exhaust be okay?

And does the TVS 2300 come in a kit for a 2006 5.3l silverado?

Thanks all.

The best thing I can tell you is to read through old threads for a couple weeks before you start dropping money on parts. There are different types of superchargers (root-style, centrifugal, screw) and the power delivery will vary between them. You need to take that into consideration when you are picking out your stall converter and gear ratio. Magnacharger makes the Radix, SLP (just a tvs 1900 with their name on it), tvs 1900, & tvs 2300. The radix is the older model of supercharger that magnacharger makes, but it is still capable of making good power on a cammed 5.3l. The 1900 & 2300 are basically built with the same technology with the tvs 2300 just being bigger in size. The tvs 2300 is over kill for just a cammed 5.3l IMO. I would look for a used tvs 1900 or radix in the classifieds if you decide to go with the magnacharger. A 4l80e will defiantly be stronger than a 4l60e, but there are different things that you have to modify in order to make it work on your truck (do a search for 4l80e swap). I believe that a built 60e will defiantly hold up to your needs though.

Instead of setting a monetary goal, why dont you set an HP goal. I am 100% sure you can spend 10K real quick, but if you do not need too, why would you? As mentioned in the above posts, there are several supporting mods you need to consider once you reach a certain level of power.

The TVS superchargers by Magnuson are top notch, I have yet to see anyone unhappy with them. We offer both the Magnuson and the Vortech, we certainly would love to discuss your needs with you if you have the time.
