Default Ball Joints

A co-worker takes his 05 Cummins in to the dealer every 3 months for Oil change and Lube job.
The other day he was driving and the damn ball joint fell apart. The dealer said it was bone dry which cause wear and that it can go completely dry like that in a 3 month period.

We both think that they forgot to lube it up last time and don't want to admit it. Any truth to this?

Thats due to them NEVER lubing it..
Or them pumping it so full and blowing the bag open and let water and everything else free to roam inside there. Even then it will not go dry in a 3 month period. Thats alot of peoples mistake, they will pump it till it bursts. Back when I changed oil, if they felt full, I did not pump any grease into them.

Many of those solid-axle Dodges don't have greaseable ball joints. They also have a VERY high failure rate, along with track bars, knuckle u-joints, etc. I often see the front ends falling apart at 50,000 miles or sooner.

as I recall they changed them where you don't have to lube them anymore but his are lube-able and they claimed they ALWAYS lubed them when he came in. But i'm thinking they didn't.

I know mine on the driver side bleeds grease out and it's never came apart.
