Default What slick is everyone running??

Im sure this has been beat to death but, just curious what's hooking at the track?

Im undecided right now with the hoosier drag slicks 28x10.00-16 and the mickey thompson et streets 28x11.50-16. Is the 1.5" difference gonna affect that much if I went with the hoosier? Which one would ya'll recommend?
Btw, they are gonna get mounted on my stock 16's and more than likely gonna run my stock rim and tire out front...

Either tire will do well. I would suggest getting a little wider rim though. The 7" rim makes the tire bow and looses contact patch surface. I have a mickey thompson classic 2 16X8 wheel NIB I would like to sell. You can get the other one from summit for 129.00, but I will ship you mine for 95.00.

I run MT ET streets, but the 10.5" variety. A boosted launch will still bust em loose off the line, even with a gnarly burnout. Truck guys need a taller rear tire to stay stuck to the track, IMO.

Also slicks and dot tires measure differently. I used to have a mustang and I initially ran MT et streets 28x12.5x15 with no rubbing. When they wore out I bought MT slicks 28x10.5x15 and they rubbed so I had to do a little messaging. I've had good luck with MT dot's and slicks so I vote for MT.

I run both tires you list, same 16" and see very little difference in my 60'.
However, with the slicks I can just nail it out of the hole, but with the ET's I have to feather the throttle to hook. The slicks make me very consistant on the launch.
Just for info, I have the ET's mounted on stock chevy rims and the slicks on a 10" wide rim as they are too wide for the stock rim IMO. They won't lay flat as mentioned above.

I ordered a set of hoosier 29x10.5x15 stiffwall slick yesterday. After lots of reading I decided to give stiffwall instead of traditional a try. Supposedly they hook better on heavier vehicle and react faster.

I have a set if MT stiff sidewalk 28/10.5s but haven't ran them yet. I have tried a et street and Hoosier QTP I'm the same size and prefer the Hoosiers. The et streets did work great on the street tho... Exactly like they're supposed to. They're called etSTREET for a reason

I run the 28x11.50-16 M/T E.T streets. They did well when the truck ran 13s.

iirc the mickey thompson 11.5 measurement is the section width and the hoosiers 10 is the actual tread width on a specified rim width. I think the hoosier may actually have more contact area.

i run the hoosiers and they dead hook
