also the reason that we werent spinning high is because their were no supporting mods. It was a cam only truck when we tuned it. Cam, intake, exhaust. That's it. No real reason to push the limits when that's all you have.

Now that I know who the tuner is, that rules tuning out. Raise the shift points and put in a nice converter. If you aren't going to run slicks or drag radials, try going around 2600 or so. If you have good tires, go 3000 or more.

I have a fuddle 3400 sitting at home. Tried to install it last weekend but stripped the old TC bolts and had no way of getting them out.

That's a big +1. NO need to spin to 7k with the setup you have. 6500-6600 would be about as high as I would go for your mods. That fuddle is going to be a nice converter. My converter bolts got stripped out as well on my 99.

What all methods have you tried to get the converter bolts out?? I have quite a few tricks to get those out... lemme know what you've tried and what's left in my bag-o-tricks...
you NEED to get that Fuddle in there.

lets see we heated them up, used your vice grip advice and got nothing. Had to go to work the next day so we put it back together.

try a cold chisel and BIG hammer and knock the heads off... or an air chisel. air chisel would probably be better with a sharp edge, because you wont have to worry about having room to swing that hammer... let the air do the work

I took the heads of those things and hit them a few times to rough them up, then took the vise grips and put them on tight enough you need a pair of channel locks to lock and unlock them LOL... it took a couple tries to get everything right but they came loose....
