new times

Wow, I went 14.59 with the only mods being Corsa, thermostat, Outlaw air intake, and programming at full weight on the 20's. The 60' times are terrible, but you aren't pulling the mph anywhere near what you should be. I'd say you have alot of tuning to do. With your parts you should be well into the 13's.

you dont have to worry about rod bolts until you are getting close to 7K RPM IMO.... I've been over 7K once or twice by accident with my stockers and everything's fine. I normally shift it at 6300 with no worries.

That cam sure does need to be revved higher to make use of it. Why would he be worried about the rod bolts. How many 5.3L's have you heard of coming apart from being over-revved. Shifting it at 6500 or so and running a 3000 stall would certainly get that thing rolling.

I was worried about shifting over 6k rpms on a base tune because the truck has 107k miles on it. That and with the 110lsa it really isn't making much MORE power past 6200 rpms. That should be it's peak, doesn't mean it will drop but it wont make any more power past that so I didn't see a need to spin it up that high yet. Like I've said over and over it was a BASE tune.

if it drops some it wont be a big deal IMO, the higher you shift, and depending on your shift extension, you should be right back in the good part of your powerband after the shift, improving times... 62-6300 should be no problem though Kyle... I've got a little over 115K on my stock motor.

+1
I'm sure your next trip to the track you'll see a big improvement with shifting a few hundred over peak.

The more I think about it the more I can see this thing easily into the 13s without a convertor. Then once the convertor goes in the real tweaking begins

you down for another trip back to the track in a few weeks? I think I may actually get rid of that fuddle and just start saving for a whole new trans setup with a new convertor
