Default First Time at the Track

Taking the truck to the drag strip this weekend for the first time. Ive never raced at a track before so not entirely sure what to expect. Just a few noob questions:
How likely am I to break something/blow something up?
What do you think I'll run? (Mods in sig)
Any good tricks I should know?
Thanks guys! I'll post up times on here after the track.

Chances of braking anything is about 1:1,000,000.

It is a legitimate concern in many ways but honestly it isn't very legitimate if you really think about it. Most of us hammer our trucks on a regular bassis. The track is no differant then the street for a mildly hotroded truck.

I have been to the track atleast 10 times in the past 3 years for test and tune. That I can think of maybe 3 or 4 cars have broken anything. That is less then a handfull out of at least 2000 cars at the track.

Well the odds of breaking something might be a little higher then custom said but still wouldn't worry about it unless you are putting slicks or street slicks. My truck first time out snapped the yoke in the transmission a little before the 60ft mark. I had beat on my truck with its setup for a year straight with Mickey Thompson drag radials and had never got traction. At the track it dead hooked and that was feathering it out of the hole and nailing it around 30ft out and the yoke snapped.

So my advice is to take easy out of the hole the first time to see how sticky the track is. I bet you could get a low 14 1/4mile out of it
