Default First hits with the turbo

I made a few passes with my 99 Silverado yesterday. It's a 99 Z71 RCSB with about 140k miles, untouched 4.8L, KBRacing hot pipes with a T67 and my own cold side and FMIC. 93 octane. On 8psi it ran 13.8@101 mph with a 2.1 60'. This is launching on about 4psi before I'll push the the brakes in 4WD the whole run. She ran 16.5 preturbo.

The 4L80e is sitting in the garage, ordering the rest of the parts for the swap this week. Also have some valvetrain stuff coming just to keep it reliable this winter. Shooting for 11.50s in the spring. Don't know if this little turbo can do it but I'll try! If not I'll be looking for a bigger turbo come spring.

All in all I'm happy with that. Raceweight was 5150.

Damn, its pretty heavy. By untouched 4.8 you mean stock bolts, cam, etc?

It was 4860. 33" tires, fiberglass tonneau cover, a couple tools. I'm 280lbs give or take.

Bone stock motor. No bolts, springs, cam, nothing. Yet.

On a separate note, my buddy's RX7 that I tune on a stock shortcblock 5.3 (only has a cam, springs, head gaskets, dual chain, studs and rod bolts) went 155mph in the 1/4 yesterday as well! These truck motors rock.

Did you forgot to mention turbo in the RX7 specs?

Haha, we don't do any LS stuff without a turbo! The RX7 has a PT7875

Thanks guys! Yes I was very happy with an almost 3 second ET reduction on only 8 psi. I'm going to get the 4L80e in and maybe run 10-12 psi this winter on 93, then E85 and 20+ this spring.

That trap speed is good for a faster ET, sounds like you're off to a good start though!

Very nice!! Turbos are soo much fun!
Mine went from a 15.2 to a 13.5 on 5psi with some worn out drag radials.

Good luck on your quest to the 11s. Ill be right there behind you hopefully!!
