4x4 vs RWD for a Drag Setup
#31
OK wow how often do you all go to the track or to a street race for real 4x4 don't exist in drag racing. There unicorns by the time you get over the weight aspect and axle breekage transfer case issues ect it makes sense nearly everything is rear wheel drive. Now awd is getting more popular but it's got its own demons. I have a 52 dodge b1b on an awd bravada chassis 4l80e conversion Ford 9" rear and ill tell you it's a beast. That said I get torn up by challengers and ls powered everything at the track and on the street if the guy hooks you loose your advantage and you now get to carry all the extra weight. So when I hear all the talk of build a 4x4 I gotta laugh cuz I've never been beat by a 4x4 anything. That said I've had some good exp with awd and chevy syclone typhoon type setups, the only thing close is those damn trackhawks. Here's the kicker the motor is a 426 hellcat ported lower intake upgraded after cooler holley heads billet crank. I run a lakewood bellhousing all the parts to make it work are on holleys website. Terminator x ecu it all adds up to what was supposed to be a poor man's trackhawk and ended up costing me my side chick" wife made me choose". There is no way to run 7.89 cheap he'll 10 sec cars are expensive and trust your gonna break parts. The reward is this when the sun goes down and the surface your racing cools and the guy in the other lane saw how fast you been all day. Bamm he spins you don't and you get to take home 450 dollars in purse money. Greatest thing since a menage a trois though both are great when it's happening but if you bring it up again your just braggin.
