Put a stroker kit in the 318 to make it a 390. Then get the large valve RT heads, proper intake and cam. Next look at nitrous or a turbo.

You would use the same 4" crank that you would stroke a 360 to a 408. If you are going to go that far, find a 360 block and stroke it. There are stroker kits available on Ebay. There is a company in Texas called Diamondback Racing. I have heard alot of good things about them. You can order a short block from them for a pretty decent price, or a complete engine.

You can make pretty decent power with the 318 too. My old 318 5 speed ran low 12's on a 150 shot, M-1, TB, and a KRC 210X nitrous cam.

If you are building a 408 stroker motor, you would have to order an internal balance rotating assembly for the 360 in order to use your flexplate (if it's an auto).

I have tuned quite a few gen II rams with the SCT flash software from www.sctflash.com and have gotten awesome results. That might be something to look at as well.
