Default hemi smt6

i have been seeing a few things on the smt6 piggy back system on a few other sites. i read everything on perfect power's website, but that crap is way over my head. what does this system do and could this be what i need to get my 03 dialed in with the new cam and headers?

You can rewrite map tables with the smt6. I have one going on my turbo hemi now, along with larger injectors and a 2 bar map.

If you are only looking to get your truck to idle properly with a bigger cam then you shuold take a look at the Apexi SAFC 2. When I first had my krc220 cam installed they also installed the apexi to pull fuel so the vaccum change with the cam wouldn't stall it out. Mine is an 04 but KRC told me the apexi would work on the 03. I only had to use the Apexi for a few days on mine- Superchips wanted to "see what they could do" with my truck since it had just got the cam. They kept it for about a month and put a nice custom tune on it.

You should give krc a call (www.krcperformance.com for #) and talk to Marty or Ty.

thanks bro. i called sc, hypercrap, krc, gsmotorsports, and a few more i can't remember and the only one that even tried to help was john at gsm. everyone else didnt even want to talk to me about even when i told them money wasnt an issue. but i will look into that system also. the truck would idle fine with the stock pcm tune, but it would load up really bad and run really fat on the bottom. when i got on it, it chugged like a cummins. dave at b&g got it leaned out some but it still isn't right. i need something i can have some local tune. i will keep you all posted

The 03 has been the toughest to take a flash, that's for sure. I'm surprised krc didn't offer some help. They've been doing all of my work. If I were you I'd call Marty and ask about the Apexi SAFC2. He installed one on mine before I got the other tune so I know he knows how to do it.

well i talked to marty for about 15 minutes and he told if dave at b&g done a flash on my computer and wasnt right yet there wasnt anything he could do. why are you swapping to the smt6 system from what you had? is it a better system or is it just trying something different

I have a turbo so I went to a 2 bar map and the smt6 allows me to adjust fuel and timing and follow boost. If I didnt go with the turbo I would have stuck with just the flash on the stock 1 bar map.

Did b&g flash your pcm?

b&g did the flash. it is still running rich. thats been two weeks now since i got it back and it hasnt cleared up at all. it also dont idle at 750 rpm still at 500. which the idle was never an issue before the flash but its just one more thing that didnt happen that i paid for. i have been looking at the apexi and the smt6 system because i want something that can acually tune instead of sending it to someone and let them program their guess work and calculations into my pcm. it seems to me that the smt6 is more ajustable and has more options i can grow into. i am going to try and get in touch with marty again and see what he thinks.

I feel bad for you dodge guys, the tuning is the only thing that keeps me away. If chrysler would open up the pcm the aftermarket world for those hemi cars/trucks would set itself on fire as well as several GM's
