I plan on doing mine with a step-drill bit and a drill press. Not sure what everyone else does?

You might want to check with your local transmission shop about that. I've been told you can swap out the pre-LS 4L60E torque convertor into the LS style trans which would give you the correct (shorter) snout, but I don't know enough about the transmissions to confirm that.

I wouldve went with the 5.3, but interested to see how this works out for you. Im debating on swapping an 80e behind my 03 6L in my 96 during the swap, I already have everything set up for a 60e, but can pick up an 80e dirt cheap. Some of those clueless GA prices...LOL

My buddy just left for good so my motor\trans well has dried up...at least until I get to Tampa next month.

I want to see you yours when you get done. unlike you, I don't have a spacer t to ensure the TC sits true on the flexplate prior to drilling.

No the issue here is both converters will except different length turbine and stator shafts. Also the build height of the converter is different. LS1 and LT1 engines also both use different depth bell housings. Not sure who told you that but its not going to work.

Not yet, probably won't have time until fall to start working on the truck.

Thanks for the correct info! That's why I take things most folks tell me with a grain of salt.
