Angry $500 Question

You have 2 $500 deals as it pertains to an '84 C10, which would you pick? 2002 5.3 with 4l60e included or '99 6.0 with the long crank that can't mount to your frickin later model 4l60e, relegating you to the use of the original '84 TH350...until you can sell enough bone marrow to buy a 4l80e and modified drive shaft.

Buy the 6.0, sell your 4l60e, save for 80e.

the 99 6.0 had steel heads. i would buy the 5.3 swap it to run a carb and still use the 350 sell the 4l60e.

Lets compromise here. I don't get the 6.0, and bolt the 4l60e to the 5.3 and keep my fuel injection.

5.3 IMO. If it were a new aluminum head 6.0 then thats a no brainer.

Buy the 6.0l, and tell me where you're getting a 5.3l with trans for that cheap. LOL

Seriously, 5.3l, no question.

Yeah, I think it will be the 5.3. Junkyards in Moultrie, GA haven't quite caught on to the fuss of ls engines. Well not 5.3's and older 6.0's anyway.

I thought those early 6.0l with the iron heads could only use the trans they came with because of the longer crank. If I could use it on an old trans like a 700r4 I'd go for it for my 68. I love LS engines but I've seen to many bolts broke off in the heads from seizing.

4l80e\TH350\TH400 and powerglide bolt up with little to no mods. The 4l60e is where you run into problems. Once you put an LS...in any sbc or bbc equipped vehicle, you will wonder what took you so long.
