Default Efan questions for the 8.1L

I know the 2005+ half ton trucks came factory equipped with Efans. My question is did the larger trucks also get this upgrade in 2005? Does anyone know if the 8.1L was ever equipped with factory Efans? If so, were they possibly the same Efans that the 5.3L and 6.0L trucks got?

I guess what I am after is.....is the 34" radiator that came equipped with the 8.1L the same 34" radiator that was used on the half tons in 2005 and up? I will go out and get some measurements later if that would help.

Well, more big block anomolies.......

My radiator is 37.5" (not 34") when measuring from inside the tanks, it is also about 20" tall but i could not get an exact measuremnt on the height. The top radiator mounting holes are 42" on center...this also looks like the same place the efan shroud mounts. So if someone could measure the center to center holes on the top of thier 05+ efans that would answer a few questions for me too.

Do you need the width between the two top mounting holes? I'll go down and measure mine right now...hopefully I'll be albe to get back on the site by the time I get back

OK, from the best that I could see with the truck parked in the dark garage, it's 32 1/2 to 33" across the 2 top bolts, and about 20" top to bottom of my 05 efans

So does this look like what you have?

The height measurement looks about right, but my center to center holes are 42" not 32.5". Are those holes in the Efan shroud the same holes the bolt goes through to hold the radiator to the support?

I have the '05 style fans in conjunction with the factory 34" radiator and on mine the top fan bolt spacing measures out at what you have (32.5"). The top radiator bolt spacing measured out at 38.25". The bolts do not go through the fan's and radiator mounts in the same location. By coincidence, the 1/2 tons that came with the smaller radiator used the bolt holes that are used by the electric fans when equiped with the larger radiator.

The 05 fans were on the half tons only from what I've seen. I have a complete 05 setup but with Jeep fan motors (they are a direct bolt in) that I pieced together for free (gotta love working around a body shop). I had to trim the top couple inches off and make my own mounting but it fits my 34 inch radiator in my 95 like a glove. I run them in series since I don't need that much air flow and they work great and only pull about 5 amps.

Okay so it looks like some modifications to the Efans will be in order when they come in. My radiator mounting bolts are 42" on center and I have the allison TCM up there mounted to the front shroud as well that i will need to find a new home for i guess. What do those Efans bolt too if they dont go through the radiator mounting holes? Are there provisions in the core support or do you have to drill and bolt them in?

On my truck, there are threaded holes in the upper radiator support that the fans bolt to, the holes used to be occupied by the bolts that held my old 28" radiator in. It is my understanding that all of the trucks share the same radiator support that has all 4 bolt holes, but this info could be wrong. Here's a pic of my 05 fans...
