Default 96 RCSB LS Swap

Just recently acquired this truck and realized I haven't done anything fun in many years nor have I had the desire to build anything because of other hobbies. All that has changed and I'm going to focus on building a LS powered 96. Truck is fairly clean some things will stay some won't. So let's get to the questions. I'm purchasing a 99 ECSB with a 4.8, im going to use what I need and sell the rest. I don't plan on keeping the 4.8 forever but for now it will work. My question is what needs to stay and what needs to go. I've seen and read on builds here and there and a lots been said and some of which needs to be clarified. Should I swap engine/trans or keep the current 96 4l60? I don't mind piles of wiring and making change. I just need to know what's best for future upgrades. I plan on a 6.0 and 80 later on.

Use the trans that comes with the 4.8 and if you can swing it I would just sell both 60e's and the motor out of the 96 and get a 4l80 from the get go. That way you aren't redoing stuff down the road. But I guess it depends on how much power you are planning to make and how hard you plan on being on the truck.

Trick does have a hot parts kit for these body style trucks with LS swaps. He used mine for mockup.

Gotcha, well today I bought a 6.0 cheap and I may just sell the 4.8 dirt cheap so I can get a better head start . I can make the 60 work I have no problem building it to suit my needs. I wanted an 80 from the start but if I can't find one i can't use one lol.

i used these mounts for my truck. bolt these on the LS motor and then bolt the 3-bolt cup from the old motor on to these and set it in.

I used conversion mounts from Dirty Dingo with the factory rubber mounts. Headers are from Schoenfeld and are specific for LS swaps in the 88-98 2wd trucks. The fit is very good.

I used the transdapt mounts on mine too. You will have to either grind down or cut out the little raised up triangular section on the cups so they fit flush with the adapter plates.
