Default 99-02 HD hood

Since I got my Tahoe I've been wanting to do the HD front end swap or at least the hood. I've scoured local classifieds every week and today I went to 4 different junkyards that claimed to have one on site but came up empty handed. The lowest price I can find online is $447 shipped to my door but that's only primed.

Where are they all hidden at? Anyone in the south east have one for sale? Is there an online retailer I'm missing?

Help! 🤯

She's aftermarket. You got a 50/50 with the fit. Parts geek is just an online reseller

I see em on ebay quite often. There are usually 1 or 2 for sale at a time. They are almost always in the NE area. Connecticut & Maryland comes up a lot, and almost always minimal to medium rust. If you want an original hood, you really will need to jump on it if one shows up local. There are 10x as many pickups as SUVs, and they want em too. Plus the HD hood with a little trimming for the headlights fits a GMC, so you have even more competition. I've seen em go for $105- $500 and are mostly pickup only (in the NE). Anyone who knows NBS/GMT800, knows this hood has an insane demand. If your junk yard gets one, it will be gone that same day. In all seriousness, I would expect one in good condition to go for somewhere $400-$600, and that's the sold right away price.

That's my fear. I looked on GMparts and they showed the HD hood as "aftermarket". Is there a place to buy OEM besides used?

Call dealers with the part number. From my experience the ones I found that had them weren't willing to ship them

Its funny that calling the dealer honestly never crossed my mind. I typically avoid them like the plague.

They are discontinued 😭

I have an OEM one too, but it was like $200 at the cheapest to ship it and after paint we decided it just wasn't worth it
