Default Looking to purchase an AR15...

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=322072093

I found this seller is in NY so I am assuming the gun is legal and I emailed him double checking that. That 30rd mag is not acceptable in ny unless it is pre ban.

If this is not the one....what is? Want a good reliable shooter like my Mosin Nagant.

Ar-15 must have forgrip, collapseable stock, 16in barrel and a reflex, halo or red dot scope.

Spikes makes good arms? Really dig the American flag on it!

No collapsible stocks in NY bro, sorry. Must be pinned. 16" barrel meets requirements. You're correct on the mags. Do yourself a favor. Get one from a fun show or dealer and add your foregrips, sights, ect... And if the fun option on the selector is true that's no bueno too

That sucks, assuming he is selling off a catalog b/c there is no way he can have that in his store.

What is a good AR-15 platform to build on. I know to stay away from the Olympic brand? How is Spikes? Maybe I will see if the seller can get me NY friendly AR-15.

If you had the choise of a NY complaint weapon..AR-15 or AK?

There's nothing wrong with either an AR or an AK. However, if I were to buy either, I would accept nothing shorter than a 20in barrel especially for the AR. Obviously, for an AK style rifle, a PSL or a Yugo M76 would be my only choices. As far as an AR, I would take something along the lines of a Larue, Armalite, Daniel defense, or a Smith and Weasel. Keep in mind though, these are just my opinions. Personally, I don't like the idea of having a cartridge with a stopping power based upon velocity and then cutting 4in off the barrel killing that velocity. As far as the AK, they are more accurate than people believe. Then again, having a short barrel intermediate cartridge isn't on my bucket list, hence the PSL (7.62x54) or the M76 (7.92x57). Again, just my $.02

Thanks for your input, I am having trouble with FFl dealer's here in NY acquiring a SVT40 b/c it has a flash hinder. But it is from 1944 and they said they would have to remove the flash hinder and ship it separately. That just doesn't sit well with me.

Toying around with AR15, AK or M14.

Ironic a friend of mine who is a fellow Marine says 16in barrel is sufficient enough. I am just looking for a GOOD & Reliable shooter. Here in NY the range I go to "Calverton" is around 100 yards .

You're going to have an issue with the M14 as it also comes with a flash hider. However, if all you are doing is punching paper to 100 yards then your friend is right, an m4 will do. However, once you get beyond aroud 450 yards, the 5.56 out of an M4 starts to really loose its ground fast. But for what you desire, I'd just get a s&w mp15 or the Daniel defense (Cheapest brands I've seen) and start modifying them to get exactly what you want. No lie, the Larue is probably one of the best, but it draws a premium on price.

I went with a Stag Arms model 3. NY compliant, comes with the full float accessory rail. And chambered for 5.56 too. Remember, if you're looking to use mil-spec ammo you need a rifle specifically built for it. Only a few manufacturers chamber specifically for the fun stuff. Look on AR15 dot com, lots of useful info there.

m4carbine.net

use the search button

I'd say look for Colt, Daniel Defense, or Bravo Company

I got a home run deal IMO, drove 16 hours straight (back and forth) to pick up a complete set up for $800 guy was $1,500 knocked him down. Due to pending ban all gun stores were on back order with no promise of getting one.

Del-Ton 316PF 16in Carbine.

16in Heavy barrel with 1x9 Twist A2 Buttstock, crowned end on barrel .223 or 5.56mm
Hard Case, 1 30 rd Mag, 1 10 rd Mag, 1 5 rd Mag, Leapers UTG 4x16x40mm Scope, 2 Rail mount scope raisers, rail mounted rear sight, knights armament fwd pistol grip, quad rail hand guard, original rail guard, 4in rail mounted bi-pod, sling and 200 rounds of ammo.

What brand do you guys use to it won't gum it up as well as a good cleaning kit?
